UHS Clinical Social Workers are involved in many ways across campus, including participation on multidisciplinary campus committees, providing mental health education, and meeting with students/UM community members one-on-one to assess needs and connect to resources. All services are free.
UHS Clinical Social Workers partner with you to discuss barriers to care, medical and social needs, and resources that may benefit your health and well-being. Specifically, they offer:
- Emotional support and adjustment to illness counseling
- Connection to mental health and campus/community resources
- Psychoeducation
- Help navigating the health care system
- Discussion and advocacy regarding distrust of, discomfort with, and barriers to accessing health care due to systemic racism, homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia, and other forms of oppression
- Support for patients receiving care in all UHS clinics, including specialty clinics and gender-affirming care
- Coordination of care within and between UHS clinics
- EMDR program for survivors of sexual assault

Need help finding a therapist?
If you are looking for an off-campus therapist, use these databases to search by insurance company, specialties, therapy approach, provider’s gender, and other criteria. If you feel overwhelmed and want to talk through this with a social worker, they are happy to help.
