If you don’t have health insurance, please take advantage of these opportunities through U-M to get insurance. And because of the COVID-19 pandemic, health insurance is more important than ever.

Michigan Medicaid Application Assistance

The Patient Financial Counselors at Michigan Medicine will be available to help students check their eligibility for Michigan Medicaid. The team is also able to assist with the application process if you are eligible.

U-M Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan

Current U-M students who are not eligible for Michigan Medicaid or for financial assistance on the Health Insurance Marketplace may wish to purchase the U-M Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan (DSHIP). 

This plan was developed to meet student needs. Please note that it, and other student health insurance plans, are not listed on the Health Insurance Marketplace.

This plan is only available to current U-M students during the open enrollment periods, with exceptions for qualifying life events.
