UHS is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC), a nationally recognized organization.
Accreditation helps to ensure that UHS provides quality care and services. It means that UHS meets AAAHC requirements, employing best practices, and operating in compliance with nationally recognized standards of care.
As part of the accreditation process, UHS participates in on-going self-evaluation, peer review and education to continuously improve our care and services. AAAHC surveyors, who are themselves health care professionals, perform a thorough, on-site survey at least every three years. Every aspect of care and operations is reviewed during the accreditation process.
AAAHC is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to assist ambulatory health care organizations in improving the quality of care provided to patients by establishing, reviewing, and revising standards, measuring performance, and providing consultation and education.
AAAHC accredits a wide variety of health care organizations, including college and university health centers, other ambulatory health care centers and clinics, surgical centers, dental practices, and urgent or immediate care centers.
