University Health Service

The following laboratory tests are performed at University Health Service.

Most currently enrolled students on the Ann Arbor campus pay nothing for these tests, although their personal health insurance is billed. If insurance doesn't cover the cost, students still pay nothing out-of-pocket.

  • Body fluid culture
  • Complete blood count (CBC):
    • With platelet count and differential
    • With platelet count
  • Ferritin
  • Glucose, whole blood by meter
  • HIV 
  • Malaria 
  • Mononucleosis screen
  • Pinworm screen
  • Pregnancy:
    • Blood test for human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), qualitative or quantitative
    • Urine test
  • Reticulocyte count
  • Syphilis blood test (RPR)
  • Sickle cell screen
  • Stool:
    • Ova and parasite screen
    • Culture
    • Fecal leukocytes (white blood cells)
    • Fecal occult blood
  • Strep:
    • Strep A antigen
    • Strep screen culture
  • Thyroid:
    • Free T3
    • Free T4
    • Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • Urine:
    • Urinalysis
    • Urine culture
  • Westergren sedimentation rate
  • Wound culture
  • Yeast culture
